Rolf Buch

has been a member of the Executive Board of Bertelsmann AG and CEO of arvato AG since 2008. He was born on April 2, 1965, in Weidenau, near Siegen.

He grew up in Essen. After studying mechanical engineering and business administration in Aachen, Buch joined Bertelsmann Distribution GmbH as an assistant to the CEO in 1991. That same year, he assumed his first leadership role as lettershop manager. In 1993, he was appointed to head Direkt Marketing Fabrik, serving first as department manager, and then, beginning in 1995, as the department’s product line manager. From 1996 to 1999, he also held the position of CEO of Bertelsmann Services France, where he successfully restructured the company’s service activities and laid the groundwork for more than two decades of impressive growth in arvato’s business in France.

In 1999, Buch returned to Germany as CEO of Bertelsmann Services Group, where he was in charge of all activities in Western Europe and several direct marketing activities in Germany.

In September 2002, he was appointed CEO of arvato direct services and joined the Executive Board of arvato AG. In addition to his other responsibilities, Buch took over arvato’s international services in July 2007. Effective January 1, 2008, he joined the Bertelsmann AG Executive Board and was named CEO of arvato AG.

Rolf Buch is married and has two children.
