A native of Mönchengladbach, Mr. Schmitter began his career in 1986 as a branch manager for Victoria Air Cargo GmbH while also earning a degree in Transport from Düsseldorf University. In 1993 he left to join Harry W. Hamacher GmbH as Regional Manager and another three years later became managing director at Transfair Luftfracht GmbH. In 1999 he joined Hellmann Worldwide Logistics as Director International Development before being appointed managing director of Birkart Fashion (DKS – now Logwin Solution), the market leader in European fashion and lifestyle logistics, in 2002. In 2009 he became managing director operations of Heycom GmbH (later renamed NETRADA Management GmbH) the world’s leading provider of e-commerce services for the fashion and lifestyle industry.

Friedhelm Johannes Schmitter is married, has two sons and lives with his family in Schenefeld near Hamburg.
