The new IT Development and Innovation centre will support growth across the organisation by adding highly experienced, entrepreneurial and problem-solving IT resources to the existing development capacity. Its employees will start developing programs and supporting systems for international customers together with their existing colleagues in Europe and overseas. The additional capacity created will allow Arvato Financial Solutions’ highly skilled and knowledgeable staff to concentrate on value-adding and highly technical initiatives. Factors such as skill availability, cultural fit and travel time have been the decisive factor for establishing the new IT site in Tallinn.
Agnes Makk, Head of Development and Innovation Centre Arvato Financial Solutions Estonia explained: “The organisation in Estonia will be a partner for the existing IT departments in new development projects. We started to build the centre in mid-November 2015 and have already hired 12 IT specialists. Looking at the project pipeline we are aiming to grow to at least 35 employees by the end of 2016. We are hiring mainly IT developers who will work in international projects for clients in Europe and the US.”
The opening event was attended by the Minister of Entrepreneurship, Liisa Oviir, the Management of the Enterprise Estonia, Hanno Tomberg, the Vice rector of Innovation of the Tallinn University of Technology, Tea Varrak, and a high-level business delegation from Germany, who also visited the E-Estonian showroom during their stay.
Michael Weinreich, CEO of Arvato Financial Solutions and Member of the Bertelsmann Group Management Committee, said on this occasion: “It is important for Arvato Financial Solutions that it has sufficient highly skilled IT resources, so that IT can also in future adequately support our growth and our clients. After a detailed assessment to find the best location, we are happy to open the IT Development and Innovation centre in Estonia, as the country has developed into a hub for pro-active ITC services and implementing new ideas. We are looking forward to being part of this success story. We have been especially impressed by the entrepreneurial mind-set, the highly skilled IT people and the cultural fit we found here in combination with experience in the financial industry and a can-do attitude.”
According to the Minister of Entrepreneurship, Liisa Oviir, it is a great pleasure to see an international company like Arvato expanding to Estonia. “Arvato Financial Solutions is a company that will introduce IT solutions – made in Estonia – to the global market. And this gives our best talents an opportunity to compete on the market and get even better.”
Arvato Financial Solutions also plans to co-operate with Tallinn Technical University in order to provide dynamic and professional experience for students, through a series of initiatives including internships. After signing the co-operation agreement between TUT and Arvato Financial Solutions Tea Varrak, Tallinn University of Technology (TUT) Vice-Rector for Innovation and International relations, stated: “This chance to co-operate with Arvato Financial Solutions, which is shaping the trends in financial solutions market and ICT fields, is a momentous step forward for TUT, Faculty of Information Technology as well as Innovation and Business Centre Mektory. This opportunity will offer plenty of positive outcomes – international and practical internship and thesis opportunities to our students, exciting career possibilities to our graduates and possible future collaboration projects to our researchers.”
