Arvato has supported the Porsche Design Group as an international outsourcing partner in managing the global supply chain of its lifestyle and luxury items. These include technology-inspired, exclusive lifestyle products that carry the legendary Porsche brand into the world beyond the automobile: exclusive watches, electronics such as smartphones or computers, clothing, sunglasses and high-quality accessories.
The extreme variability of the products handled is not the only major challenge. Since the time between production and availability of the lifestyle and fashion products at the point of sale is extremely short, and seasonal items and special sales create extreme load peaks, the logistics must be both extremely ﬂexible and scalable. In addition, the import and export regulations of the respective countries must be observed when shipping the goods.
The distribution center of Arvato is specifically designed to meet the requirements of the Porsche Design Group and the global logistics of luxury products. On a logistics area of approximately 10,000 square meters, the articles are held under special security conditions. All in all, Arvato ships more than two million items every year to Porsche Design Stores and Porsche Centers in more than 100 countries.
The import and export regulations of the respective countries must be observed when shipping the goods. This is made possible by an exceptionally powerful IT system that reliably manages all information, data and payments along the entire supply chain. It also forms the basis for the highly efficient order-to-cash solution with full vendor and receivables management, which covers all processes from order receipt, fulfillment and invoicing to incoming payment monitoring.
