Arvato digital services signs 1st online
London. Media and communications services provider Arvato digital services, a division of Arvato Bertelsmann AG, today announced that the British software superstore Downloadbuyer.com is the first customer in this country for its new Arvato RED (Retail Electronic Distribution) software e-distribution platform.
One of only two authorised Microsoft e-distributors in Europe, Arvato gives Downloadbuyer.com, for the first time in the UK, the ability to offer customers the full range of Microsoft Windows and Office products in download form.
The Arvato RED distribution platform is a breakthrough for online retailing by providing a unified, seamless interface between content providers (such as software manufacturers) and online stores. Manufacturers enlist their product just once to the RED Cloud-based distribution platform to make it immediately available through countless online shops to millions of consumers. The advantage for retailers is that they can now stock electronically distributed products from any software publisher they choose without having to sign up with each one individually or build their own systems to manage the downloads.
Retailers have complete control over their customer and revenue streams and avoid the cost of complex supply chains. Arvato RED supplies the stores with the latest products and takes care of managing the downloads seamlessly in the background. Arvato RED also gives them a compelling alternative to outsourcing through third party or white label stores whose restricted portfolios tend to give the online customer just a fraction of the choice available in the high street.
