Arvato Opens New Logistics Center in Hong Kong
Mitat Aydindag, Managing Director Arvato Asia, inaugurated the new service center at an official opening ceremony attended by a representative of the German Consulate General in Hong Kong, customers and suppliers, saying: "Asia plays an important role in Arvato’s internationalization efforts. And this new site in Hong Kong has everything it takes to become one of Arvato’s most important Asian logistics hubs.” He added that establishing the new site is a strategic investment in a key growth market.
Arvato will provide integrated logistics services to global IT and high-tech clients at the new 14,000m² warehouse and distribution site located in the Tuen Mun industrial district. The site has excellent infrastructure links and offers space for additional customers. More than 40 Arvato employees now work at the four-story site with eight loading docks, picking and localizing almost 340,000 items a month for Sennheiser and a leading U.S.-based smartphone and computer manufacturer, and shipping them to all countries in Asia.
For Arvato, Hong Kong is the central distribution hub for the whole of Asia. It provides ideal proximity to suppliers in China, and the labour market offers excellently trained skilled workers. Another plus: Hong Kong is a free trade zone, so no import duties are levied. "The strategically excellent location and low level of trading regulations lets us offer our customers prime conditions for the distribution of their goods into Asia at our new location in Hong Kong as well as giving us an optimal positioning for the future," says Chwee Beng Lee, Managing Director Arvato Hong Kong.
