Arvato Strengthens its Position in Turkey with E-Commerce Logistics Provider OGLI
The international technology and logistics service provider Arvato has completely taken over the Turkish e-commerce logistics company OGLI from the Otto Group with immediate effect. The Istanbul-based company will be incorporated into Arvato’s SCM Solutions business unit. The acquisition strengthens Arvato’s competitive position in the attractive growth market of Turkey while also systematically continuing the group’s international expansion of its integrated e-businesses, initiated at the beginning of the year with the Netrada acquisition. “By combining our operations with those of Netrada, we have become one of Europe’s leading providers of integrated B2B and B2C e-commerce services. By taking over OGLI, we create a beachhead for our customers to establish their e-commerce activities in Southeast Europe,” says Frank Schirrmeister, head of Arvato’s SCM Solutions business unit.
A mere three years after its establishment, OGLI already works for renowned companies out of the verticals fashion, beauty and sport as well as for Hepsiburada, Turkey’s leading online retailer. The company has a site on about 8,500 square meters in Istanbul, where it employs 150 people, and is growing rapidly.
The OGLI purchase opens up great opportunities for Arvato, especially in Turkey’s dynamic e-commerce logistics sector. Experts believe that the country’s digital distribution channels will see steadily double-digit growth in the years ahead. This favorable development in the supply chain segment is driven mainly by an emerging class of young Turkish people who are free-spending, digitally savvy, and have more and more disposable income.
“In this exciting and rapidly growing e-commerce environment, we see the acquisition of Ogli as an ideal platform for expanding our business in Turkey,” says Arvato Turkey CEO Soner Cesur. "We haven’t just bought a well-established company, but have also gained an experienced management team. The Ogli executives have twenty years of experience in supply chain management processes. Ogli CEO Umur Özkal adds: “We are pleased to be part of the Arvato family now, and are confident that we can achieve stronger growth for our businesses through its international network.”
