Replication brings Activision’s blockbuster series “Skylanders” to the market
“Skylanders – Trap Team” is the latest installment of video game publisher Activision’s blockbuster game series. As with all the previous “Skylanders” games, the global media service provider Arvato Replication will be responsible for collection and delivery for all platforms in all European countries.
Activision has an impressive record with its brand-typical “Skylanders” combination of console game and physical action figures. The American company has generated sales in the billions with the concept and has used it multiple times. In the fourth installment “Skylanders – Trap Team,” Activision has, for the first time, expanded its successful game concept beyond new figures and functions to include Android tablets, Kindle Fire, and iPad. This means that Arvato will now also take on the programming tasks and hardware testing of items such as games controllers and their connection to corresponding tablet PC's.
Since the beginning of the “Skylanders” success story in 2011, Arvato Replication has collected and delivered the popular game’s products and components throughout Europe. Working on behalf of Activision, the group produces the different country versions for Xbox One and Xbox 360 “Skylanders” products and also packages the Nintendo games. The volume of “Skylanders” deliveries has continued to grow and the current contract now comprises a lot size in seven figures. As in previous years, Arvato is also entrusted with purchasing products, including printed materials for the various editions.
“The fact that Activision has entrusted its top product to Arvato Replication for years and continues to renew the contract speaks for itself,” explains Sophie Passuello, Vice President of Global Key Accounts Games at Arvato Replication. Plans for the next installment are already underway.
