Arvato collects: 300 kg of stamps for a good cause
Arvato no longer throws away stamps! Arvato employees throughout Germany have been bitten by the collector's bug …
The collection mania produced about 300 kg of stamps, which had to be transported on two Euro pallets. They are being donated to the Bodelschwingh Foundation Bethel, where they will be used to help secure jobs for people with disabilities. “We even surprised ourselves with how many stamps we got,” beamed Silvio Richter, Head of Arvato’s Competence Center Transport in Harsewinkel.
All kinds of stamps had been collected since the initiative began in June. “We are very grateful for this commitment,” wrote Pastor Ulrich Pohl, the Chairman of the Foundation’s Board, in a letter to the Arvato team. “Every single stamp helps to maintain 130 jobs for people with disabilities.”
Little effort, a lot of good
The stamps have been prepared in Bethel for more than 100 years: they are loosened in a special water bath, dried on blotting paper, and then sold to collectors. Stamp enthusiasts can add to their collections, and with a little luck, find a steal of a deal. The Arvato employees who collected the stamps were united in saying: “We are happy that such a small amount of effort on our part can do so much good.”
