Environmental award for Arvato Hightech EMEA in Ireland
New CD/DVD packaging from Arvato proves that less can indeed be more by winning the Repak Award 2011
2010 marked the start of a project under the direction of Quality Engineer Dennis Gleeson that involved developing a new packaging for a key client. It was supposed to be lighter, require less space, and use fewer resources than existing solutions.
The result was impressive: With the newly developed packaging, the company was able to reduce cardboard packaging by 12.5 tons compared to the previous year; a saving of more than 35%. And it doesn't stop there: the reduced weight and space requirements also lowered transportation costs, thereby considerably reducing the transportation-related emissions.
The Arvato Hightech team has now received Repak’s “Best Packaging Prevention Initiative Award” for this packaging design. Repak is a voluntary initiative for Ireland’s economy that aims to promote packaging recycling. The award is sponsored by Ireland’s Environmental Protection Agency.
