Arvato begins operations for Deutsche Telekom in Halle/Queis
With delivery of the first consignment, Arvato started up operations for its customer Deutsche Telekom AG at the new distribution warehouses in Landsberg (Halle/Queis) on 3 April as scheduled. More than 1,000 pallets of mobile phones and landline items, as well as related accessories have already been added to the inventory. A gradual transition from Deutsche Telekom’s previous service providers to the new Arvato distribution center will take place over the next six months. Once the transfer – which will be achieved without disrupting operations – is complete, Arvato will pick, pack and ship approx. 40,000 consignments a day for the Bonn-based communications group.
The distribution center dedicated to Deutsche Telekom encompasses three new hall modules, each 14 meters high and with 9,000 square meters of usable space. Construction began last year and was completed in the first quarter of 2013. The new halls directly link to the Arvato logistics center erected in 2011 on nearly ten hectares of company land on the Halle/Queis Industrial Park. All in all, the state-of-the-art logistics facility now provides about 40,000 square meters of usable space.
Arvato delivers comprehensive logistics services for Germany’s largest communications group, including storage and inventory management, picking and packing, nationwide shipping across all distribution channels, returns processing, and technical inspection.
New staff is being sought for the new services to be handled in Halle, including logistics assistants, technicians, supervisors, and general support staff.
