Field inventory management for Germany
Transparent product inventories in hospitals and deliveries right to the ward – Arvato provides integrated services with STOK, that go far beyond the hospitals’s receipt of goods. This effective strategy, that company founder Paul Wilkinson has already established in the UK and Ireland, is now also being provided successfully for the healthcare market in Germany.
Experienced employees, known as field analysts, who regularly visit hospitals in a fixed region and keep direct contact with the care staff and employees on the wards, are the STOK services’ recipe for success. The team is now complete for Germany and covers the whole country. The STOK external sales force has taken over the cycle counting of products in hospitals, working from eight locations across a range of manufacturers. Manufacturers determine the periods between individual stock checks to suit their needs – from just one count annually to monthly inventory reviews. The STOK external sales force is on the road with several vehicles and, if required, can deliver individual products where they are needed, even at short notice.
Of course, Arvato also offers comprehensive vendor managed inventory solutions, where product stocks in the hospital are checked on a weekly basis and replenished to a minimum level agreed beforehand with the manufacturer. Subsequent deliveries can also easily be integrated into existing Arvato European logistics solutions. That way the delivery is carried out as a single service – from a central warehouse right through to the ward.
With STOK services, medical technology manufacturers have the opportunity to significantly increase the transparency of product inventories and consignment stores. As, to guarantee that the necessary products are available in hospitals at all times, precautionary stock levels tend to be set too high rather than risk a stock out. On the basis of a study by GHX Research, around 25 per cent of all product inventories in medical technology are in consignment stores, so the savings potential is perfectly clear. With STOK services such as inventory management or implant kits, inventories are sustainably reduced and regular checks prevent any product expiry.
The care personnel also benefit from the service on site. Instead of tediously having to document stocks and withdrawals, or check any irregularities in the accounting of products, they can spend their time on the patients, secure in the knowledge that all the necessary products are reliably available at all times.
