Preventive healthcare in the lunchbreak
It sounds a bit little like science fiction. While taking a virtual cycling tour under the guidance of Anna, the computerized avatar, you are checked medically from head to toe in about 45 minutes. It’s no-longer a pipe dream, it is now a reality: occupational health management by Arvato.
A check-up and personal coaching, combined with a digital health cockpit, will help employees live more healthily and feel better in the long term. This is the idea behind the “high vitality people” programme developed by Arvato Healthcare. After being successfully tested in the Cottbus area it is now being implemented in Gütersloh. A “preventiometer” forms the basis of the “high vitality people” programme. It measures all essential health data in about 45 minutes, including hearing and vision tests, blood tests and a stress test. To do this participants are sent on a virtual cycling tour with the computer-generated avatar, Anna. So the time just flies by. And all this is supervised by a medical assistant.
When the health information has been measured, it is transmitted to a health cockpit – a security-certified online portal – and anonymously stored there. Only the employee can access their data using a unique code. At no time does the employer have access to this. All that the employer receives are anonymous assessments of the success of the programme, which can be used as the basis for recommending specific actions or suggesting improvements. However, a company physician does check the individual, anonymised results of the health check in order to rule out serious illnesses and, if necessary, to recommend consultation with a specialist.
Personal health coaching
Are my results good or bad? Where and, more importantly, how can I improve my health? The personal prevention coach is there to help with these questions. Coaches explain test results, compare them with recommended values, and help develop personal goals in consultation with the employee concerned. These goals, and possible ways to achieve them, are then recorded in a health plan. For example, the prevention coach may recommend certain company sports programmes or changes in behaviour, and will regularly motivate the participant to keep trying. This way your weaker self won’t stand a chance. And its success is clear.
