Arvato takes over logistics management for Nintendo games consoles
Gütersloh. Arvato has further expanded its longstanding collaboration with the Japanese video games and consoles manufacturer Nintendo. The international outsourcing services provider from Gütersloh is additionally taking over the logistics management for all of the Japanese entertainment and technology company’s hardware components, and will be supplying several European countries with various games consoles, among them the new “Wii U” which has been available since last Friday in Europe. Arvato Entertainment Europe will provide a comprehensive range of services including warehousing and pick-and-pack processes.
The service concept for Nintendo reflects the high-security standards that apply for the products, and is designed for implementation at more than just one site. The project has now launched with the packing and delivery of Nintendo hardware for the U.K. by an Arvato picking, packaging and distribution center in Birmingham, England. Its first consignment order involved distributing thousands of pallets of hardware to wholesalers and retailers. By the end of the year, several hundred sea containers will arrive at the 2,000m2 access-controlled and security-guarded logistics complex in Birmingham, where they will be prepared for dispatch and then delivered via security-controlled transport.
In Germany, the distribution of Nintendo products is being handled by Arvato’s new logistics site in Hamburg-Hausbruch, from which the merchandise will be delivered to a number of European countries. Arvato Entertainment Europe moved into the roughly 30,000m2 building, which is near the harbor and has direct links to the A1 and A7 autobahns, in October. The containers shipped by sea can be fed directly into the Arvato logistics network, so that the hardware can quickly continue its journey overland as soon as the products have been sorted by region and country and packed for shipping.
“Our group’s long years of experience, high process standards, and dense network of locations are crucial to the successful development and delivery of the European Fulfillment and Distribution solution for our customer Nintendo’s high-volume products,” says Sven Deutschmann, CEO Arvato Entertainment Europe. By taking over all logistics services for Nintendo’s hardware products, Arvato Entertainment Europe has successfully expanded its existing partnership with the Japanese company.
