Sale of Printer Industria Gráfica
This decision derives from the endeavours of management to create a sustainable business model for Printer. Owed to the country’s general economic environment and more recently to the trends in the printing market, with a 22,4% contracting rate in Spain only between 2008 and 2010, Printer suffered ongoing losses for a number of years, despite the constant efforts made by both the staff and the management. There were no prospects of Printer improving its current circumstances mid-term and this entailed a notable risk to employment. The plant and the future of its employees are only sustainable with a leading position in the market within its geographical influence area, especially in Catalonia and Southern France.
As Impresia has in Barcelona its Rotocayfo plant, also specialized in offset printing, the sale of Printer to Impresia means the creation of a prominent offset printing operator within the regions mentioned. It creates synergies between its plants, thus resulting in much more positive prospects of a feasible financial development whilst saving the employee’s jobs. This was Arvato’s top priority in this decision.
