Arvato Replication Manufactures Packaging for New AC/DC Bestseller ‚Rock or Bust’
A few days ago the iconic Australian rock band AC/DC released their 15th studio album, “Rock or Bust,” which shot straight to the top of the charts in many countries. The Arvato Replication subsidiary topac exclusively produced all of the album’s packaging for the entire European market for its major customer Sony DADC.
The company’s many years of experience in the execution of such extraordinary, large-volume projects was a decisive factor in it winning this important contract. topac had already produced the packaging for the previous AC/DC album “Black Ice” and for the soundtrack to “Iron Man 2.”
The new album, which “Rolling Stone" magazine named "Album of the Week" in its issue published at the beginning of December, features an eye-catching 3D cover of the AC/DC logo carved in rock, which explodes in a multiphase animation depending on the angle it is viewed at. This is achieved by a lenticular display. The impressive cover design extends to all produced formats.
"We are delighted that the print skills we’ve built up over many years have contributed to the great success of this album," says Sven Deutschmann, CEO Arvato Replication. “The packaging upgrades the physical product in both the LP and CD version, and makes it an attractive collector's item.”
Beyond the services in the European territory, Arvato Replication also produced specific product parts for the album for other countries such as Malaysia and Australia.
"The new AC/DC album is one of the highest-volume orders in the company's history," says Susanne Klose, Head of Sales and Marketing at topac. "Beyond the packaging for the CD and vinyl versions, the Arvato Replication Group also supported its customer Sony DACD with the production of a substantial part of the complete CD product," adds senior account manager Magnus Rosenthal.
In a thank-you letter, Sony DADC praised the team for the timely and accurate implementation of the complex project.
