Arvato services acquires logistics arm of ComBase group
Gütersloh/Karlstein, 1 July 2009 – Arvato services, one of Germany’s leading logistics contractors, has acquired the logistics division of the insolvent ComBase group with immediate effect. The Karlstein-based company supplies distribution services to mobile communications providers, in particular to the Telefónica O2 Germany telecommunications group.
The transfer of operations will involve a change in employment contract for more than 200 employees. By making this acquisition, Arvato services invests in the expansion of its national logistics network and enhances its service offerings for customers in the telecoms industry. The two parties have agreed not to divulge the details of the contract. The transaction has already been approved by the antitrust authorities but is still pending the approval of the relevant boards and by the creditors.
“The takeover of ComBase’s logistics division All in One is a resolute continuation of our expansionist course over recent years,” declares Ralf Bierfischer, CEO of Arvato services. “This move further enhances our leading position in this market segment and expands our collaboration with Telefónica O2 Germany, with whom we have signed a new service contract, while also enlarging our customer base in the telecoms industry.”
