Schmitter appointed as new CEO of Arvato’s e-commerce unit
Guetersloh/Munich. Friedhelm Johannes Schmitter, 48, will take over the management of Arvato’s e-commerce strategic business unit at the earliest possible point in time. In his new role, the noted e-commerce expert for will be responsible for the further expansion of Arvato’s extensive services in this growth segment.

During this time he has proven in a variety of executive positions that he can think and act both as an entrepreneur and with a focus on customers. His task at Arvato will be to work with the existing management team to systematically advance the development of the e-commerce strategic business unit and to generate future growth,” says Markus Schmedtmann, member of the Arvato executive board.

A native of Mönchengladbach, Mr. Schmitter began his career in 1986 as a branch manager for Victoria Air Cargo GmbH while also earning a degree in Transport from Düsseldorf University. In 1993 he left to join Harry W. Hamacher GmbH as Regional Manager and another three years later became managing director at Transfair Luftfracht GmbH. In 1999 he joined Hellmann Worldwide Logistics as Director International Development before being appointed managing director of Birkart Fashion (DKS – now Logwin Solution), the market leader in European fashion and lifestyle logistics, in 2002. In 2009 he became managing director operations of Heycom GmbH (later renamed NETRADA Management GmbH) the world’s leading provider of e-commerce services for the fashion and lifestyle industry.
Friedhelm Johannes Schmitter is married, has two sons and lives with his family in Schenefeld near Hamburg.
