Markus Schmedtmann to leave Arvato
Guetersloh. In connection with the discussion regarding Arvato’s direction, Markus Schmedtmann (42), CEO of Mohn Media and a member of the Arvato Executive Board, will be leaving the company on the best of mutual terms. He is stepping down from all his positions to tackle a new entrepreneurial challenge outside Arvato.
"On behalf of the Arvato Executive Board, I thank Markus Schmedtmann for his successful work, his dedication and his extensive expertise, which he placed at the company’s service at all times. I wish him all the best for his professional and personal future,” said Arvato CEO Achim Berg, adding: “In Markus Schmedtmann, we lose a manager who made it a priority to work in partnership with the employee representatives, and who has the ability to form effective teams and lead them to success. During his more than 20-year career, he has advanced the development of Arvato and been formative in its business and strategy. His remarkable achievements include the expansion of Arvato’s marketing services businesses and the development of Mohn Media into Europe’s leading provider of print services.”
Markus Schmedtmann joined Bertelsmann in 1991 and began his career as a Key Account Manager at AZ Direct. In 1994, he moved to Bertelsmann Marketing Services GmbH as lettershop distribution manager. In 2002 he became Managing Director Customer Loyalty as well as Print- and Lettershop at Arvato direct services. In the years that followed, he very successfully expanded these business segments, and in 2007 became CEO of the Marketing Services unit.
