Arvato Awarded for Porsche App at the WorldMediaFestival
The app, ”Good to know“ designed by Arvato was awarded an “Intermedia Globe Gold” at the World Media Festival, one of the most important international competitions for communications media. The new auto information app, premiering in the category of “Web: Mobile Apps, Interactive Tools”, was designed by Arvato’s business unit Corporate Information Management (CIM) as commissioned by Porsche. This tool extends far beyond customary digital instruction handbooks with search functions, sophisticated video clips and interactive graphics.
”We are absolutely delighted to receive this award which indeed confirms how closely we are aligned to current trends in the digital age with our application,“ remarked Wilfried Grabau, Director of Arvato CIM, at the awards ceremony in Hamburg in Mid-May. “Good to know“ provides information for almost every Porsche model on the iPhone or iPad. Meanwhile, the app covers 8 different Porsche model series and currently 76 various operating manuals with 25,000 pages and 33,000 photos, complemented with roundabout 2,000 video clips with a total length of 2,280 minutes of full HD film. The entire contents are powerfully intertwined with over 500,000 links within this media. In addition to a German version, the app is available in British and American English, as well as Chinese.
These efforts are not an end in itself, as Dr. Jan Meinel, Coordinator of New Media at Porsche AG pointed out, “We would like to delineate important innovative functions and highlights of our customer’s new Porsche models in a timely and up-to-date manner with this attractive multi-media presentation. This increases customer satisfaction and serves as an optimal introduction for potentially interested parties.” The manufacturers measures for sales, marketing and customer loyalty are optimally enhanced in this fashion by “Good to know.”
The auto information app functions according to the method “Single Source – Multi-Channel Publishing.“ Identical data containers consist of the technical basis ensuring maximum flexibility. The app contains only the basic functions for the first download which also includes a dealer locator providing rapid access to a contact person nearby. Subsequently, the user selects which model series and year s/he is interested in; the corresponding data is then downloaded in the app and available offline anytime. The container system provides a lean app wherein the user determines the contents. Arvato CIM particularly values a device specific presentation, “The solution-oriented aspect is a focal point for the iPhone variation as the user would like to receive all necessary information Grabau. The iPad, in contrast, enables conveying information in a more cinematic way, thus encountering the vehicle more in depth.
“We are embarking on an exciting development with this app,“ Wilfried Grabau predicts. Whoever wants to become convinced of the current functionalities, can download ”Good to know“ from an App Store free of charge. iPhones or iPads require the operating system iOS, minimum version 6.0.
