In order to offer our worldwide customers innovative solutions quickly and flexibly, we have organized arvato into seven solution groups: Customer Relationship Management, Supply Chain Management, Financial Services, IT Services, Digital Marketing, Print Services, and Replication.

Fernando Carro

Chief Executive Officer

Fernando Carro has worked in various management positions at Bertelsmann since 1993 and has been a member of the Group Management Committee since 2012. Most recently, he served as President Latin America and Spain, in charge of Bertelsmann businesses on the Iberian Peninsula and the company's expansion in the South American growth markets. In addition, he was responsible for Bertelsmann’s club and direct-marketing businesses since 2007 and from 2007 to 2011 was CEO of Bertelsmann’s former Direct Group division. After training as an industrial manager and studying industrial engineering at the Technische Universität in Karlsruhe, Carro initially worked as a sports journalist. He joined Bertelsmann via the company's Corporate Junior Executive Program. Just one year after joining, Carro became Managing Director of the specialist information publisher Etrasa in Madrid, then in 1998 Managing Director of Heinrich Vogel Verlag in Munich. In 1999 Carro was appointed to the divisional Executive Board of Bertelsmann Springer, before moving to Barcelona two years later as Managing Director of Círculo de Lectores. He became a member of the divisional Board of Direct Group in 2005 and at the same time took over the operational management of the German Clubs as CEO. In July 2015 he became CEO of arvato.

Rolf Hellermann

Chief Financial Officer

Rolf Hellermann has served as Head of Bertelsmann’s Corporate Controlling and Strategy department since 2012. In this role, he is a permanent guest on Bertelsmann’s Executive Board and Group Management Committee and on the Boards of RTL Group and Penguin Random House. Since last year, his area of responsibility has also included Corporate Business Development tasks, including the implementation of strategic Group initiatives.

After studying business administration in Vallendar, Los Angeles and Nancy, Hellermann completed his studies with a doctorate from the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. Immediately afterwards, in 2004 he joined Bertelsmann’s Corporate Controlling and Strategy department and in 2008 was appointed Vice President in charge of corporate controlling and investment controlling for Random House, arvato and Direct Group. During his Bertelsmann career, Hellermann has also completed postings at RTL Group in Luxembourg and Gruner + Jahr in Hamburg. In July 2015 he became CFO of arvato.

Patrick Corbett
Managing Director, arvato SCM Ireland

Managing Director, arvato SCM Ireland

Patrick is Managing Director of arvato SCM Ireland and has held the role since 2004. He joined Bertelsmann in 1994 and gained significant experience during the start-up of the Irish operation in 1994 and subsequent years. This start-up was arvato’s first venture into the Irish landscape and was a response by Bertelsmann to the level of high-tech customer presence by multi-national corporations in the Irish market.

Patrick transformed the Irish operation from a small single site 2 CD-Line manufacturing facility to a fully integrated end-to-end supply chain operation servicing the software and hardware sectors and more recently BPO services. Under his leadership arvato has continued to win supply contracts and expand offerings to many prestigious blue chip IT/high-tech customers.

With a strong technical and managerial background Patrick uses his knowledge and understanding of the high-tech industry to ensure his team are constantly to the forefront in the acquisition and support of new global clients.

Debra Maxwell
Managing Director, arvato UK

CEO, CRM & Public Sector, arvato UK & Ireland

Debra is responsible for arvato’s public sector and contact centre business in the UK, overseeing the negotiation and implementation of complex public and private partnerships and driving new BPO growth areas, including central government, public healthcare and beyond. As part of her role Debra will direct the strategy for arvato’s contract to operate the first Independent Shared Service Centre (ISSC1) on behalf of the UK Government. 

Debra has a wealth of expertise and experience in private and public sector outsourcing across senior strategic and operational roles. Prior to her current position as MD, Debra was Global BPO Director for arvato, leading the company’s global BPO partnership with Microsoft. The role included overseeing teams in the USA, Ireland, Mexico, Singapore and Manila and establishing a new managed service model for Microsoft. This partnership gained international recognition by winning ‘BPO Project of the Year’ at the 2012 European Outsourcing Association (EOA) Awards. Previous roles within arvato have included General Manager Ireland and Global Operations Director at arvato Finance Services.

Prior to joining arvato, Debra worked as Director of Shared Services at Surrey County Council, where she led the implementation and delivery of Shared Services for the council.

Debra lives in Cheltenham and enjoys fine wine and contemplation.

Bryan Mouat
CEO arvato Financial Solutions (aFS) UK & Ireland

CEO arvato Financial Solutions (aFS) UK & Ireland

Bryan is CEO of arvato Financial Solutions (aFS) in the UK & Ireland and a member of the wider aFS group executive board, head-quartered in Baden-Baden. Bryan joined arvato following the acquisition of Gothia and has led the post-merger integration of the former BCW Group and Credit Solutions businesses.

He has overall responsibility for a team of more than 850 staff across nine offices, and leads on negotiating and implementing complex partnerships.

Bryan is well versed in operational and strategic planning, risk management and project management, having over 25 years’ of experience in the financial services industry. He joined BCW Group in 1994, as Group Operations Director and oversaw a period of rapid expansion before becoming Managing Director in 2007, and leading the business through a successful period of M&A activity.

Since joining arvato in 2013, Bryan has used his expertise to lead the credit management division into a new era of success and has positioned the business as a major player in both the UK and Irish recoveries markets.

Bryan studied economics, modern history, politics, French and English literature at the University of Glasgow.

Jonathan Radcliffe
Director Business Affairs & Legal

Director, Legal & Compliance

Jonathan is Director, Business Affairs & Legal, arvato UK. As general counsel, he provides strategic legal advice to the arvato UK board and senior management team. He regularly advises arvato’s divisions across the UK, Ireland and internationally, on a wide range of legal matters from contract negotiations, to employment law and compliance.

Jonathan also manages the company’s relationships with legal and compliance teams within the wider Bertelsmann group and external law firms.

Since joining arvato in April 2011, Jonathan has played a major role in formalising a number of arvato’s most significant contracts in both the private and public sector. In addition, Jonathan has continued to support arvato’s global expansion in the provision of outsourced finance services, helping to negotiate contract extensions with existing clients. Jonathan also supported the Group’s international legal teams with the recent acquisition of STOK UK.

A lawyer with over 20 years’ experience, Jonathan previously specialised in mergers and acquisitions at global law firm DLA Piper.

Jonathan studied law at Leeds Metropolitan University. He enjoys playing golf and watching cricket (in the summer) but his passion is supporting Liverpool Football Club.

Dr. Ulrich Cordes

Head of Digital Marketing, Print, IT and Replication

Dr. Ulrich Cordes has served as CFO to the Executive Board of arvato AG since 2009. He was born on September 20, 1967, in Paderborn, East Westphalia.

Dr. Cordes grew up in Gütersloh and studied business administration in Göttingen. He was awarded a doctorate by the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer in 1995.

In 1997 Dr. Cordes joined Bertelsmann AG as a consultant for corporate development at the Corporate Center. He went on to become the commercial director of Bertelsmann Marketing Service in 2000, and was appointed head of arvato direct services in 2002. Since 2007, Dr. Cordes has served as commercial director of arvato services Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and as a member of the Executive Board. He was appointed vice president for finance at arvato AG in 2009.

In his capacity as chief financial officer (CFO), he is also chief of staff for arvato AG.

Andreas Krohn

CRM Solutions

Andreas Krohn has been the head of CRM Solutions at arvato since December 2014. He was born in 1959 in Westerstede, Germany.

Krohn began his professional career at arvato after studying business in London, Reutlingen and Fontainebleau as an assistant to the management of Mohn Media. After serving in further management positions, he switched to arvato Services in 1995. From here on, he concentrated on the rapidly expanding airline business, which he used as the basis for expanding the company’s business with customers from the tourism industry over the following years. He also oversaw the development of arvato’s service segment in Asia during the same time. Krohn was responsible for all of arvato’s CRM activities in Germany in 2013 and 2014. In December 2014 he took over the company’s international CRM activities bundled under the CRM solution group.

In his new position, Krohn is strengthening his focus on the strategic realignment, international cooperation and digital transformation of arvato’s global CRM business.

Krohn is married and has three children.

Frank Schirrmeister

SCM Solutions

Frank Schirrmeister has been a member of the arvato AG Executive Board since August 2014 and is head of the arvato SCM solution group. He was born on April 29, 1965, in Herne, Germany.

After studying electrical engineering at the Rhineland-Westphalian Technical University (RWTH) in Aachen, he began his career as a senior adviser at the Arthur Andersen & Co. consultancy firm (now Accenture).

In 1994 Schirrmeister moved to arvato AG, where he held management positions in Gütersloh and Versmold. In 1999 he was appointed vice president with responsibility for the global business operations of the arvato client Microsoft. He has served as CEO of arvato distribution GmbH since 2004.

Schirrmeister lives in Bielefeld with his wife and two children.

Michael Weinreich

Michael Weinreich has been a member of the Executive Board of arvato AG since 2012, with responsibility for the Financial Solutions Group. He was born on June 6, 1966, in Kassel.

He studied European Business in Reutlingen and London and started his career in the early 1990s as a consultant with Gruber, Titze und Partner (Gemini Consulting) in Bad Homburg. In 1994 he moved to the OTTO Group (then called OTTO Versand) in Hamburg, where he held successive management positions for the next 13 years, most recently as the Managing Director responsible for the activities of the EOS Group subsidiary in Germany. Weinreich has been CEO of arvato Infoscore since March 2009.

Sven Deutschmann


Born in Hamburg in 1963, Sven Deutschmann joined Bertelsmann in 1992. After serving as head of Sales and Customer Service, he was appointed CEO of topac Multimediaprint GmbH in Gütersloh in 1996.

In September 2002, Deutschmann became senior vice president of Sonopress GmbH in Gütersloh. He has served as the company CEO since July 2003. Beginning in 2005, he assumed responsibility for all the Sonopress branches across Europe in addition to his duties as CEO. He then went on to manage worldwide client coordination in the games, video and audio sector.

Since January 2014, Deutschmann’s role as CEO has included overseeing the operations and production sites of the arvato Replication solution group in the United States, Mexico and Hong Kong. In January 2014, he was appointed to the arvato AG Extended Board.

Deutschmann is married and has two children.

Axel Hentrei

Print Solutions

Born in Marl, Germany, on April 17, 1958, Axel Hentrei has been a member of the arvato AG Extended Board since 2013. He oversees arvato Print Solutions.

After completing a degree in business studies, Hentrei worked for KPMG in Munich as a junior consultant from 1989 to 1991. In 1991 he moved to Mohn Media Mohndruck GmbH, where he successively held positions as head of Controlling, head of Distribution Management, head of Internal Distribution, head of Production Management, head of Distribution, and CEO of arvato Russia.

Hentrei was appointed CEO of Mohn Media in 2008. In 2011 he assumed the leadership of the arvato Print Solutions business unit. Following the reorganization of arvato, he is now CEO of the Print Services solution group (Mohn Media, Vogel, GGP and Medienfabrik). This group of companies has a business volume of approximately EUR 900 million and a workforce of around 4,000.

Hentrei lives in Bielefeld, is married and has one daughter.

Matthias Mierisch

IT Solutions

As CEO of arvato Systems Matthias Mierisch is responsible for arvato’s Solution Group IT.

After studying Law and Economics at Bonn University, he joined Bertelsmann as a lawyer in 1988, and so has been working for the company for over 25 years. Among other things Matthias Mierisch worked as CEO of Bertelsmann’s BFS finance group, as well as Chairman of arvato UK/Ireland. On 1st May 2014, he took on the role of head of arvato Systems in Germany.

Matthias Mierisch lives in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, is married and has got two children.
